Bayardo Reyes was raised on a coffee farm in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. The farm he grew up on with his grandfather in the 1920's is not the same as the one he cultivates today. During a tumultuous political period in Nicaragua's history, the Sandinistas took over farming land. After his mother sent him away for his safety, Bayardo returned to his home country in 1991 to purchase land and bring back his family history of coffee farming.
